Keepin It Healthy at a Desk Job and College

Hey sweets!

Hope all is well with all of you! OMG this Bay Area weather is freakin gorgeous these days, it makes me so happy. I love the fact that we can break out the spring/summer dresses and those adorable wedges again. My gosh, I have missed them so. Here's an outfit I wore this week embracing the sun and Spring time hee hee

Alrighty, so lately a friend of mine and I have been talking a lot about how sitting all day at our desk job can be such a killer to our bodies. Sure, we'll take time after work to go on walks and eat healthy but sometimes it just doesn't feel like it's enough. Even a few of my friends who are in college have complained about how they are either too busy to take time off to go on a walk or are too tired. So, I did some quick searches on tips with staying healthy at work and here is what I found.

1. STAY HYRDRATED. Believe me, I know how drinking water can be annoying, but it really is important. Bring a bottle of water with you wherever you, chances are you'll drink the amount needed throughout the day. OR buy a water container and keep refilling it throughout the day, it can be a cute accessory ;)

2.  Move your body.  At least give yourself a few breaks from your computer.  Find a workout buddy, research shows that if you have a partner, then you are more likely NOT to cancel on them which will make you move around. If you aren't into the buddy system with exercising, try doing 3 ten minute exercises throughout the day; that way you would have exercised for at lest 30 minutes altogether.

3.  Avoid caffeine after 2 pm. Caffeine has a tendency of keeping you up at night which results to late night snacking...NO BUENO. Also, according to stree.about.com, sleep deprivation can raise your cortisol levels, resulting in weight gain :/

4.  Use a plate.  Think about it...if you are eating from a box, you don't really know how much you are eating. I mean, a person can easily finish a bag of chips or a box of whatever without realizing it until it's all gone. That's a HUGE no no. When you use a plate, you control the portion size a lot easier.

5. Carry around hand sanitizer. You never know who touched what before you. It'll keep you healthy and away from any bugs that can potentially get you sick...being sick during important deadlines, midterms or finals week just adds to the stress. Don't worry, it's not just the germ-o-phobes who carry sanitizer; it's a good alternative if you don't have water and soap at hand. Seriously, who knows what's on the desk, doorknob, buses, etc. EWW
